Blue Treated Roofing Batten 2″ x 1″ (25x50mm) 4.2m

Blue Treated Roofing Battens 2″ x 1″ (25x50mm) 4.2m are BS5534-graded, pressure-treated softwood battens engineered for pitched roof construction. These battens are the go-to choice for roofing contractors, builders, and confident DIYers who need compliant, durable tile battens that meet current British Standards.

Key Features and Specifications

• Dimensions: 25mm x 50mm (2″ x 1″ nominal), 4.2m length
• Standard: Graded and certified to BS5534 — the mandatory British Standard for roofing battens
• Treatment: Pressure-treated with preservative; blue dye confirms BS5534 grading compliance and distinguishes battens from ungraded timber
• Timber type: Imported softwood (spruce/pine), sawn finish
• Service life: Treated for long-term resistance to rot, fungal decay, and insect attack
• Sourcing: Responsibly sourced timber; Chain of Custody certification available
• Finish: Sawn for positive grip when nailing roof coverings
• Note: Apply end-grain preservative to all site-cut ends

Applications

• Primary fixing batten for concrete roof tiles and clay roof tiles on pitched roofs
• Fixing point for natural slates, fibre cement slates, and artificial slates
• Counter-batten systems for improved under-tile ventilation
• Re-roofing, roof repair, and new-build residential and commercial projects
• The wider 50mm face makes this batten particularly suitable for heavier concrete tiles and wider rafter spacings

Why Choose This Product

BS5534 compliance is not optional — ungraded battens can compromise roof longevity and pose a structural safety risk. The 4.2m length reduces waste on standard rafter spans, and the sawn finish provides reliable nail-holding performance. Trade quantities are welcome.
